THE STEAMER
The first step in our meticulous restoration process is a careful examination of the hat to determine the necessary interventions. Each hat is unique and requires a precise diagnosis to ensure optimal results. Once this initial assessment is complete, we proceed with the removal of surface dust. This step is crucial to prepare the hat for deeper cleaning. Next, we use a specialized sprayer that gently steams and mists the hat's fabric. This treatment effectively removes any residue and gives the material a new freshness, restoring the hat to its original splendor.
REBLOCKING
The hat is then placed on a special block, a sort of mannequin for hats, which ensures it maintains its optimal shape during cleaning and reblocking. This is where the true magic begins. With a special formula, we spray the hat to help it regain its original shape. A specific sponge is used to work the material, followed by another jet of steam while the hat remains on the block.
THE BRIM AND THE CROWN
Removed from the head block, the hat is placed on a flat block to work on the brim. We spray the top and bottom, then clean it carefully. When the underside of the brim is facing up, we cover it with a sheet and spray it again. A hot iron gently glides over the brim, helping it find its perfect shape. To reshape the brim, our experts gently pass their hands over the underside while it is still warm, then iron it once more. At this point, the hat is removed from the block and sprayed one last time.
THE PERFECT CROWN
While the hat is still damp, our experts gently press on the top of the hat to shape the crown and dents, giving the hat its true and unmistakable Borsalino appearance.
THE FINAL TOUCH
Finally, we take care of the lining. Knowing how much it can wear out, we carefully apply adhesive under the inner edge and place the lining inside the hat. When the hat is ready, a few final touches are made, and it is carefully inspected to ensure it looks like new. And there you have it, your hat is finally ready, perfectly restored thanks to the care and expertise of our specialists.
